Alice at Columbia

September 8, 2015 - January 28, 2016

This exhibit is about Alice Hargreaves being awarded an honorary Ph.D. in 1932, on the occasion of the centenary of Lewis Carroll’s birth. The degree was awarded based on the fact that Alice as a child implored Carroll to write down the tale he had begun on a fateful rowing trip. There was much fanfare associated with the ceremony and the accompanying exhibit.
