About the Funds

Maxine and David Schaefer Memorial Children’s Fund

In honor of two of the founding members of the LCSNA, Maxine and David Schaefer, money contributed to the fund is used for a literary outreach program for children. Twice yearly, in conjunction with an LCSNA meeting, members present a reading from either Alice’s Adventure’s in Wonderland or Through the Looking-Glass books at a local elementary school, and then facilitate a lively question & answer session with the students. Learn more…

Stan Marx Memorial Fund

The Stan Marx Memorial Fund was established in the name of the founder and initial driving force of the LCSNA. The money is used to sponsor continuing study of Lewis Carroll, supporting travel, research, scholarly presentations and publications.

USC Wonderland Award

The University of Southern California (USC) Wonderland Award is part of an annual multidisciplinary competition, open to students from all California universities, who transform the life and writing of Lewis Carroll into new creative and scholarly works. Since 2005, approximately 500 students from 20 universities have submitted short stories, film and screenplays, animation pieces, games, novellas, essays, book art, performance installations, art and art installations, and “curiosities.” Four volumes of student work have been published by the USC Doheny Library. The LCSNA funds the 1st prize winner with a cash award.

General Operations Fund

This fund helps us pay for operational expenses like meeting rooms, speaker honoraria, publications, and the other day-to-day business expenses we incur in the course of keeping the LCSNA running smoothly. This fund is easily overlooked, but we can’t do without it!

Make a Planned Gift

Every donation, large and small, secures the future of the Society and its work. Consider making a Bequest:  Pledge a fixed amount or a percentage of your estate. Donate using your Life Insurance by making the LCSNA your beneficiary.
